Shane Forrest.


Head Coach

Biography:

Coach Shane Forrest enters her 26th year as the head coach for the Red Hawks. Shane graduated from Montrose High School competing in volleyball and tennis. She went on to continue her volleyball career at Mesa State College, 1985-1988, earning RMAC All Conference her Junior and Senior years, and RMAC Player of the Year her senior year as well as the honor of  NAIA 2nd-Team All-American.  Shane assisted the Mavs in 1989 and 1990.

After moving back to Montrose in 1996, Shane assisted then head coach Vicci Carricato before taking over the program in 1997.  In the past 25 years, the Red Hawks have made 7 state tournament appearances with one Final Four showing in 2014. Shane was honored as the Southwestern League Coach of the Year 8 times and the Rocky Mountain News 4A Coach of the Year in 2007. She received the Colorado High School Coaches Association Horizon Award in 2011, and was recognized as the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports Helen McCall Memorial Coach of the Year in 2014.

Emily Sanburg.


Assistant Coach

Biography:

Emily Sanburg is a Montrose High School graduate and past volleyball player. After a successful high school career, she went on to play at the collegiate level as a Briar Cliff Charger. The Chargers compete in the GPAC conference of the NAIA. She continues to share her passion for volleyball by being a part of MHS volleyball program. The 2023 volleyball season will be her fourth year assisting the Red Hawks. You can find a happy Emily in the gym cheering on her players alongside her former coaches.
